Known issues
The following issues and limitations are known for Engineering Method Composer 7.6.2.2 release. Some issues have workarounds and other issues are limitations.
Workarounds
The following issues in this release have workarounds.
- Rich Text Editor does not work on RHEL 8.x without libnsl library

Issue: When you install Engineering Method Composer on Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 8.x, Rich text Editor doesn’t work without transl library.
Workaround: To install Engineering Method Composer on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.x, follow these steps:- First install the libnsl library.
- Run the command yum install libnsl.
- Follow the regular installation instructions.
- Accepting changes from source control and other file changes

Issue: Engineering Method Composer overwrites changes from source control and other file changes.
Workaround: Reopen the library when you change to file that might affect the open library.
- An extra lock is acquired in the integration of Engineering Method Composer with Jazz source control

First occurrence: 7.5.3
Issue: In the Engineering Method Composer integration with Jazz source control, an extra lock gets acquired.
Workaround: This is a low impact issue. Release all files that are locked when changes are released in a change set.
- Publishing configuration error

Issue: Errors in the log files are generated when content is published to Microsoft word or PDF.
Workaround: The issue is a known BIRT Issue.
Do not use HTML comments in HTML table definition in Engineering Method Composer.
- Sharing a project in Rational ClearCase

First occurrence: 7.5.3
Issue: Error messages are generated when you try to edit content in Engineering Method Composerafter a project in Rational DevOps Code ClearCase® is shared.
Workaround: Reload the workspace library after a project in Rational DevOps Code ClearCase is shared.

First occurrence: 7.5.3
Issue: The default practice library is loaded when you start Engineering Method Composer for the first time. This causes Installation Manager to not be able to update library as the time flag changes in some library files.
Workaround: Take a backup of the practice library and load it along with starting Engineering Method Composer.
- Unable to uninstall Engineering Method Composer

Issue: The menu option fails to uninstall the product.
Workaround: Avoid uninstallation of Engineering Method Composer by using the menu option. Instead, use the Uninstall feature of IBM Installation Manager.
- Searching an applet or application for file-based browsing

First occurrence: 7.5.3
Issue: Java™ applet-based search that is included in the Classic skin and the MEC Simple skin is no longer supported in current browsers.
Workaround: To use applet - based search feature, host the published websites on a web server.
- File-based browsing on Chrome and Firefox

First occurrence: 7.5.3
Issue: Unable to open published website in browser such as Chrome or Firefox.
Workaround: To use Google chrome for publishing website with the MEC Simple skin using file:// protocol, launch chrome with the switch --allow-file-access-from-files.
To use Firefox for publishing website with the MEC Simple skin using file:// protocol, go to about:config and disable the restriction privacy.file_unique_origin.
- Numbers are not allowed in ID attributes

First occurrence: 7.6.2.1
Issue: The attribute id of any tag or element cannot be numeric.
Workaround: Follow the rules when you create an ID name:- Add at least one character.
- Begin the ID name with an alphabet.
- Avoid any white space when you import artifacts from Engineering Method Composer to DOORS® Next.
- Area maps are not supported in the web-based authoring in DOORS Next

Issue: Area maps are not currently supported in the web-based authoring in DOORS Next.
Workaround: Simplify the area maps that contain elements and move them into a separate plug-in from elements that can be imported to DOORS Next.
- Web-based authoring in DOORS Next cannot use
<strong>and<b>tags -
First occurrence: 7.6.2.1
Issue: The DOORS Next schema is different from the Engineering Method Composer schema. DOORS Next does not accept the use of
<strong>or<b>tags inside the<a>tag.Workaround: Use the
<a>tag inside the<strong>or<b>tag in the content that is imported from Engineering Method Composer to DOORS Next. - Unable to migrate Image area map

Issue: The user is unable to edit or update area maps that are developed by using the previous versions of Engineering Method Composer.
Workaround: Create a new area map in the current version.
- Unable to migrate activity diagrams

First occurrence: 7.6.2.2
Issue: The activity diagram that is created by using older version must work with the current version. Sometimes, issues arise due to change in model.
- Images are not displayed when they are published in PDF or MS word format.

Issue: Image with spaces in their image path is not displayed when you publish in PDF or MS word format.
Workaround: Remove the spaces from their image path and then publish in the intended format.
Limitations
The following issues in this release are limitations.
- Support for user-defined types, for custom relationships is implemented for the authoring perspective and for publishing

Issue: The following areas are not currently supported for user-defined types, custom relationships, and custom attributes:
- CSV file report
- Package copy across plug-in
- Using the plug-in creation wizard to copy the plug-in
- The Tailoring perspective and other areas such as BIRT-based reporting
- Search on Android devices

Issue: Currently the search function is not supported when file-based browsing is used in android devices.
- Deploying websites to Jazz (Liberty) Server

Issue: Search works only if you deploy an extracted war file. See Integrating with Engineering Workflow Management
- Shell-sharing is not supported

Issue: In the previous versions of Engineering Method Composer, the shell-shared Eclipse that used the -product com.ibm.rmc.rcp.ui.75.ide was supported. The parameter was also available to use in a stand-alone MEC installation to make a switch workspace menu option visible. However, this parameter is no longer supported in this release. Instead, it is made available in the standard MEC interface.

Issue: The
RSS feeds

headers under the menu appears in English regardless of the target language. Also, theCheat sheet
under the Help menu appears in English even if the user sees a few words that are converted in the targeted language.
