IBM and DevOps
IBM provides an integrated DevOps experience for all applications.
DevOps is an approach to lean and agile software delivery that promotes closer collaboration between lines of business, development and IT operations. Historically, development and operations, and even testing, have been siloed operations. DevOps brings them together to improve and reduce the time needed to address customer feedback. With continuous delivery, continuous deployment and continuous monitoring of applications, enterprises can:
- Respond to the market faster and build engaging user experiences
- Continuously deploy software into development, test and production environments
- Scale DevOps successfully without disrupting the business
- Drive environment consistency from testing to production and across public and private cloud
- Build a startup culture that brings business, development and operations together
- Facilitate improved application quality and stability through frequent releases
- Help reduce costs through improved efficiency and reduced outages
To streamline deployment across public and private clouds, and virtualized environments and mainframes, IBM UrbanCode Deploy, an add-on to IBM, helps automate deployment of containers, applications, middleware and database changes into development, test and production environments.
IBM UrbanCode suite is a market leader for deployment and release automation solutions. IBM UrbanCode suite is designed to facilitate rapid feedback and continuous delivery in agile development environments while providing the audit trails, versioning and approvals needed in production. By using IBM UrbanCode Deploy, Release, and Build, enterprises achieve quick and lasting cost reductions and return on investment. IBM Urbancode Deploy orchestrates and automates the deployment of applications, databases and configurations into development, test and production environments.
Jenkins is an open source Helm chart that is an optional installation choice. It extends the Ansible installer to provide an option rather than going through the catalog after IBM is installed.
