Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment platform
Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment platform brings the same level of application capability that you experience in IBM Cloud and IBM Cloud Dedicated to your data center. It runs directly on IBM® Cloud Private by using Kubernetes containers.
The traditional deployment of Cloud Foundry is done using Bosh. Bosh communicates with the underlying IAAS to deploy and maintain the Cloud Foundry infrastructure by using virtual machines. This method does not take advantage of container architecture.
To take advantage of containers and Kubernetes, a new deployment method has been created. This new architecture allows for the deployment and maintenance of Cloud Foundry into Kubernetes, without the need for Bosh.
Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment that is available in IBM Cloud Private Version 3.1.2 offers Cloud Foundry Version 1.36.
Offerings
You can deploy Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment in two modes: Developer and Enterprise.
Developer mode uses a small footprint and is good way to learn about the product. It still deploys into an enterprise infrastructure, but its footprint is minimal.
In Enterprise mode, you deploy all components to two or more node clusters. This deployment model provides a second layer of protection, in addition to the protection that is offered by infrastructure as a service (IaaS) high availability (HA), to make sure that your workloads stay running. After the HA platform is initialized, you can expand or reduce its nodes to fit your specific requirements.
