Installation modes

You can install IBM® Content Classification by using a graphical mode, console mode (AIX®, Linux, and Solaris only), or silent mode.

Graphical mode

This is the typical installation option. Choose this option if you want to step through the installation manually and customize your installation.

To start the installation wizard on AIX, Linux, or Solaris, mount the IBM Content Classification DVD or find the electronic distribution image on your system and run the appropriate executable file.

To start the installation wizard on Windows, insert the IBM Content Classification DVD or find the electronic distribution image on your system and run the appropriate executable file.

Console mode (AIX, Linux, and Solaris only)

With this option, you can run the installation program in text mode from a console. The screens are rendered in text and prompt you for the same information as the graphical mode of installation.

To start the console mode installation program, mount the IBM Content Classification DVD and run the appropriate executable file with the -i console option.

./classificationsetup88_sunos.bin -i console

Silent mode

With this option, you can silently install IBM Content Classification according to options that you specify in a response file. Silent installations are useful when you want to install the same configuration on different computers.

When you run the installation program in silent mode, run the appropriate executable file with the -i silent option and the -f option that specifies the name of the response file. The following example shows how to start the installation program in silent mode in the Solaris operating environment if the response file is located in the same directory as the installation program:

./classificationsetup88_sunos.bin -i silent -f ICM87_response.txt
