Components of Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager

Describes the components that made up of a Tivoli® Netcool® Performance Manager installation.

A typical Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager installation consists of the following components:

• Application server component - Runs a core application framework.
• Gateway component - Processes data that is downloaded from the adapter data sources.
• Loader components - Parse and load data into a database.
• Database component - Stores data in an Oracle database.
• Directory server - Provides directory services by using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol that is based on Security Directory Server.
• Tivoli Common Reporting server- Provides the new Common Reporting GUI that is accessed by using a browser. Tivoli Common Reporting is installed from Jazz® for Service Management. To use Common Reporting, you must also install Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager - Application Studio on a Windows computer. Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager - Application Studio is an administrative and modeler tool for Common Reporting on Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager.You can use Model Maker if you have earlier Cognos models.
• Client software provides graphical user interface (GUI) access from client computers.
