CME formulas

CME Formulas are used to define how various input metric data streams are transformed into new output metric data stream values. Inputs for a CME formula can include raw data output from Bulk or SNMP collection formulas, thresholds, properties, resource aggregation statistics, or other CME formulas.

The result of a CME formula is itself a metric, and it can be processed or aggregated like any other metric in Tivoli® Netcool® Performance Manager.

Formula triggering

A CME formula is dependent on the type and number of inputs that are defined for it. A CME formula performs its calculation after all of its processing conditions are satisfied.

For example, when a value for that metric arrives, a formula with a single input metric triggers. If multiple input metrics are required for a formula, then the formula does not trigger until values for both metrics arrive.
