Introducing the IBM Security Network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) appliances

The IBM® Security Network IPS appliances are purpose-built, Layer 2 network security appliances that you can deploy either at the gateway or the network to block intrusion attempts, denial of service (DoS) attacks, malicious code, backdoors, spyware, peer-to-peer applications, and a growing list of threats without requiring extensive network reconfiguration.

New product features and enhancements for this release

The Firmware Version 4.6.2 release includes the following new product features and enhancements for IBM Security Network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) products:

New policy for SiteProtector Split Writing feature
The SiteProtector Split Writing policy enables the Network IPS appliance to report events to two SiteProtector™ systems (primary and secondary) simultaneously for event backup. See Configuring SiteProtector split writing.
Use of comma-separated lists of IP addresses and ranges of IP addresses in the Quarantine Rules policy. See Configuring IP addresses and ports for quarantine rules.
