Software requirements for Db2 Admin Tool 13.1

Prior to beginning the customization process for Db2® Admin Tool, ensure that your environment meets all software requirements.

Db2 Admin Tool 13.1 requires the following software:

  • One of the following supported versions of Db2 for z/OS®:
    • Db2 13 for z/OS (5698-DB2)
    • Db2® Value Unit Edition 13.1 (5698-DBV)
    • Db2 12 for z/OS (5650-DB2), function level 500 or higher
    • Db2 Value Unit Edition 12.1 (5770-AF3) function level 500 or higher
  • The requisite release of z/OS for the Db2 subsystems that you will be using with Db2 Admin Tool
  • IBM® Tools Customizer for z/OS 1.1 (5655-TC1) with the PTF for APAR PH42701
  • IBM SMP/E for z/OS 3.6 (5655-G44) or later

If you plan to use Object Comparison Tool or the Change Management function, you must have IBM Db2 Change Management Solution Pack for z/OS 1.2 (5655-CH1) or IBM Db2 Administration Solution Pack for z/OS 3.3 (5697-ASP) installed. Each of these solution packs contains Object Comparison Tool 13.1. Object Comparison Tool 12.1 is not supported by Db2 Admin Tool 13.1.

Optionally, if you plan to use the following additional features and tools, ensure that you have the specified tool and version installed. Some of these products require a PTF to be applied to support Db2 13:

  • IBM Db2 Cloning Tool for z/OS 3.1 (5655-N15)
  • IBM Db2 High Performance Unload for z/OS 4.2 (5655-AA1)
  • IBM Db2 Table Editor for z/OS 4.5 (5697-G65)
  • IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS 7.1.0 (5697-DA7) or later
Memory recommendations: Because certain functions of Db2 Administration Tool keep information in memory for efficiency, use a minimum region of 256 MB of memory for both batch and TSO. Ideally, if allowed by your installation policy, set REGION=0M for batch jobs to allow for maximum below-the-bar storage and avoid reruns.

When 1000 or more objects are processed, additional region is recommended. More memory is also necessary if you suppress object dropping when generating the job, because object attributes are kept resident to process this option. If you are processing more than 10,000 objects, use a starting region of 256 MB. If LE storage failures occur, increase region parameters before assuming that a problem exists. Increase memory in 32 MB increments.

In all cases, ensure that the requested region size is not limited to a lower amount by the IEFUSI installation exit.
