Starting the node and connections that activate at startup

To use the SNA Node Operations application to start the node and any connections that you have indicated to activate at startup (which can be configured from the Define a LAN Connection—Advanced options panel):
  1. From the SNA Node Operations main panel that shown in Figure 1, click the Start Node option of the Operations menu (or click the button on the toolbar with the red dot in its lower right corner).
  2. In the dialog box that appears, type the name of your configuration file. Click the Open button. The SNA Node Operations application starts the node and any connections that you have configured to activate at startup. Details of the local server appear in the main window, as shown in Figure 1.

To obtain details on Connections and other resources that are listed in the left pane:
  1. Click on the resource type in the left pane. Icons that represent your resources appear in the right pane.
  2. Right-click the icon about, which you want details.
  3. Click Details from the displayed short-cut menu. Details of that resource appear in a message box.
  4. Click OK to accept the parameters or Help for information on what the parameters mean and how to modify them.

When the node is started, in addition to remote connections, Communications Server tries to start several Windows services and devices. If any errors are in the configuration file, or if one of the remote servers is unavailable, Communications Server writes error messages to its log file. You can view the log file by using the Log Viewer application, which can be started from the Launch menu, or by clicking the Start LogViewer button.
