WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment Patterns overview
IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment Patterns enables the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment environment to run in IBM PureApplication, which efficiently runs workloads, manages all integrated components, monitors the health of the system, and administers and manages application deployments.

- PureApplication Service
- PureApplication System
- PureApplication Software
- Support for WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V8.0.0.9 or later and V8.5.5.2 or later
- Script packages that you can use to further configure your WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment environment
- Virtual system templates that you can use to quickly create and configure your environment
- Software components
- Software components represent WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment software, such as the deployment manager or administrative agent.
- Script packages
- Script packages include scripts that you can use to configure software components. For example, you can use the WebSphere dynamic cluster configuration script package to create a dynamic cluster.
- Links
- Links represent data dependencies between software component attributes or script packages. The first software component or script package in the link depends on and is run after the second software component or script package in the link. Links ensure that attributes of two software components with data dependencies have the same value.
- Policies
- Policies define quality of service (QoS) levels for artifacts in your pattern. You can apply policies to a software component to configure specific behavior in the deployed virtual instance. For example, to add more than one custom node to a pattern, you can add a base scaling policy to a custom node software component.
- Add-ons
- Add-ons are specialized scripts in PureApplication that you can use to customize your virtual machine configuration. For example, you can add the default add disk add-on to one software component to provide more storage to the provisioned virtual machine.
You can add these artifacts to a blank template to build a customized virtual system pattern for your WebSphere Application Server environment, or you can use predefined templates to quickly set up both simple and complex WebSphere Application Server environments.
