Configuring hardware automation prerequisites

Before you begin

Install the following software to use the LPAR configuration dashboard in Service Management Unite:

  • SMU V1.1.11.2 or later

  • IBM Z System AutomationV4.3 or later

  • APAR OA66380 for IBM Z System Automation: Hardware management support enablement for SMU

About this task

The requirements for SMU LPAR configuration are:

  • Preparing the hardware for IBM Z System Automation (SA z/OS).

  • Configuring SA z/OS Connections to the hardware.

  • Configuring the SA z/OS ProcOps component.

  • Configuring and administering SA z/OS for SMU Hardware Support.

Procedure

  1. Prepare Hardware for IBM Z System Automation.

    For more information, see Step 7: Preparing the Hardware topic in the IBM Z System Automation guide.

  2. Plan Processor Operations Connections to establish the hardware connections.

    For more information, see the Planning Processor Operations Connections section in the IBM Z System Automation guide.

  3. Configure Processor Hardware Interfaces for SMU to manage the mainframe hardware.

    For more information, see the Processor Hardware Interfaces section in the IBM Z System Automation guide.

  4. Optional: Create an automation policy to automate the control of the ProcOps application using IBM Z System Automation.

    Alternatively, you can start PROCOPS with ISQSTART ACF.
