Adding a data item to the list

Through the list, you can create a data item and add it to a data source. The data item is added to the list and, depending on the data source, can also be added to a map at the same time.

Procedure

  1. Add an item to the list. In the Add New Item window, the data item properties reflect the data source that is selected in the list.
  2. Complete the appropriate field values of the properties of the data item. Properties that are marked with an asterisk are required for the successful creation of the new item. Those properties that are not marked with an asterisk are optional. Depending on the data source configuration, some fields are completed automatically. You must complete the location field for a data item to display on a map. WKT (Well-known text) is the required format for entering the latitude and longitude coordinates of positions on the map, in the order of longitude and then latitude. The allowed length for the field values is defined by the data source.
    • For an item that is represented by a map marker on a geospatial map, in the location field, enter the word point and the coordinates for the point.
    • For an item that is represented by a map marker on a location map,
      • in the location field, enter the word point and the coordinates for the position on the geospatial map
      • in the area name field, enter the name of the location map area
    • For an item that is represented by a shape on the geospatial map, enter the word polygon and the coordinates for points that make up the polygon. The first and last point of the polygon must be the same to ensure that the polygon can be drawn successfully.
  3. Click Save to save the item, or Close to cancel adding the item.

Results

You can view the new item in the list and also on the maps when the data item has the appropriate properties.
