IBM BPM on Cloud Process Center FAQs
Use IBM® Process Center in IBM BPM on Cloud to create and manage process applications and toolkits. The processes, services, and other assets that you create in IBM Process Designer and IBM Integration Designer are stored in the Process Center repository. After you test your process application, you can create a snapshot of it, and then deploy the snapshot to the test or process runtime environment.
Is Process Center available in both editions of IBM BPM on Cloud?
Yes, it's available in both IBM BPM on Cloud and IBM BPM on Cloud Express.Do I need additional authorization?
To create a process application, you must have access to the development environment and be a member of the tw_authors group. If you don't see the Create New Process App option, your user ID probably doesn't have the correct authorization. Report the issue to your IBM BPM on Cloud account administrator.Which design tool should I use to create processes?
In IBM BPM on Cloud, you have access to both Process Designer and Integration Designer from Process Center. Choosing which tool to use depends on the type of process you want to model: human-centric process or a complex automated service. In IBM BPM on Cloud Express, you have access to Process Designer only.- Human-centric processes: Process Designer
- Human-centric processes contain a set of activities that can be
part of a structured flow, ad hoc activities that are independent
of the flow, or a combination of both. Most artifacts you need for
a process are available in both the web and desktop versions of Process Designer. For
a list of artifacts and where you can edit them, see Where to edit Process Designer artifacts.
You can use web Process Designer directly from Process Center. To download and install the desktop version, see Downloading and installing IBM Process Designer.
- Complex automated services: Integration Designer
- Complex automated services, such as SCA modules, mediations, and
BPEL processes, can be completely automated or they invoke other services,
such as web services, enterprise resource applications, or applications
running in CICS and IMS. At run time, these services generally run
without human intervention. To download and install Integration Designer, see Downloading and installing IBM Integration Designer.Attention: Integration Designer is available only on dedicated subscription instances of IBM BPM on Cloud. If Integration Designer is not available in your environment and you'd like to use it, submit a request through the Client Success Portal.
How do I test my process?
Authoring processes is an iterative process. If your IBM BPM on Cloud environment is running IBM BPM V8.5.7, you can run, test, and debug your processes and services directly in the web Process Designer Inspector. For more information, see Running and debugging processes in the web Inspector. How do I install my process in the test and runtime environments?
In Process Center, create a snapshot of your process application and then install the snapshot in the appropriate operating environment. For more information, see Creating snapshots in Process Center and Installing snapshots. For automated services that are not part of a process application, you can install the enterprise application by using the option in the IBM BPM on Cloud console. This action requires the Operator role. For more information, see Managing operating environments.
