Working with the Collection Broker

As introduced in Collection Broker, the Collection Broker is a load and resource manager for queries and enqueue requests for a set of collections. See that section of this document for more extensive introductory information about the Collection Broker.

This section discusses how to start, stop, get status information about, and initiate a crawl through the Collection Broker. For information about how to query a search collection that is being managed by the Collection Broker, see Querying Collections Managed by the Collection Broker. For information about how to use the Collection Broker to create new search collections based on existing ones, see Creating a New Collection by Exporting Existing Collection Data.

Important: The Collection Broker is designed to manage large numbers of collections to which data for indexing (and URLs that should be deleted) are pushed directly to live search collections, rather than being updated in an intermediate location. The Collection Broker is not designed to interact with the traditional live/staging model for search collection updates. You should not use the search-collection-push-staging function with search collections that are being managed by the Collection Broker.
