With the daily use of inventory items and tools, organizations
must replenish inventory stock to stay functional. You replace used
inventory stock by reserving and reordering items and tools that you
need.
Inventory item reservations
You can create reservations for inventory items and tools
to ensure that they are replenished in the inventory stock on time.
You can create hard reservations or soft reservations, which are based
on the importance of the inventory requirement.
Reordering inventory items
You can reorder inventory items or tools when the storeroom
balance indicates that the items must be replenished. You can also
reorder items that are listed on approved work orders, which can be
issued without being received into inventory.
Reorder locks
When you reorder items in the Inventory application, a
lock is placed on the storeroom being restocked. This action prevents
other users from reordering items for the same storeroom at the same
time.
