Outbound UNA Envelope

The Outbound Envelope allows you to determine outbound parameters for the UNA (EDIFACT) option. The Outbound UNA Envelope dialog box is displayed.

Note: EDIFACT version 4 defines the infrastructure necessary to support the creation (and processing) of interchanges that have been encoded using a character set other than 8-bit ASCII. Microsoft Windows supports the processing of an encoded interchange as long as the encoding matches the default code page of the operating system where it is running.

The following describes the parts of the Outbound UNA Envelope.

Part Description
Send UNA Segment Select this to send the UNA segment.
Component Element (UNA01) Mandatory. Define the value that separates the component data elements in a composite data element. Do one of the following:
  • In the first box, type the special character (such as * or ^). The system converts it and enters the hex value for that character in the second box.
  • In the second box, type the hex value. The system converts it and enters the special character for that hex value in the first box. If there is no printable character that corresponds to the hex value, the character box will be blank.
Note: The value must be between HEX "01" and HEX "FF."
Element Separator (UNA02) Mandatory. Define the value that separates the elements in an outbound data segment.
Decimal Notation (UNA03) Type either a comma or a period to indicate the decimal point in a numeric box. The period is recommended.
Note: This box is mandatory and must be either a period or a comma.
Release Indicator (UNA04) Mandatory. Type a character to restore any character used as a syntactical separator to its original meaning.
Repetition Separator (UNA05) Displays the repeating element character.
Segment Terminator (UNA06) Mandatory. Define the value that identifies the end of an outbound data segment.
