ABC Airlines announce a new route for 2020 from London to Toulouse. Hugo, the maintenance
manager at ABC Airlines, must create the flight records and ensure that the optimal aircraft are
allocated to the flights.
About this task
A flight schedule can be created in the Flight Schedules application or in the Flight
Schedules tab of the Flight Log Book application. Changes in one application are copied
to the other application. Hugo creates the schedules in the Flight Schedules application.
The new route involves three daily flights between London and Toulouse. No weekend flights are
planned. Hugo must create an outbound schedule for the 15 weekly flights from London to Toulouse and
an inbound schedule for the flights from Toulouse to London.
Procedure
- Hugo opens the Flight Schedules application, creates a record, and enters 2020 London -
Toulouse as the description.
- Hugo enters the start date as 6 January 2020, the end date as 31 December 2020, and then clicks
New Row.
- Because this schedule runs from Monday to Friday and three times a day, in the Create
Planned Flights dialog box, Hugo specifies 5 in the Repeat
Duration field and 3 in the Repeat Per Day field.
- Hugo specifies other details for the flights, such as the aircraft model and the arrival and
departure times.
- Hugo specifies flight numbers for the flight records.
- In the Pre-flight Job Card field, Hugo selects an existing job card to
manage the pre-flight inspections that are required for the specified aircraft.
- Hugo knows that hundreds of flight records must be created, so he specifies his email address
in the Notification Email field so that he can continue working while the
flight records are generated in the background.
- Hugo selects the Create Flight Schedule Records button, and the hundreds
of records for the outbound flights are generated. Hugo can select the Refresh Flight
Schedule action to check whether all the flights are generated. Because Hugo specified
his email address in the previous step, when the flight generation is complete, Hugo receives an
email with details of the generation.

- Hugo repeats steps 1-7 to create another schedule for the inbound flights from Toulouse to
London for the same time period.
- Hugo changes the status of both schedules from DRAFT to ACTIVE.
- To assign aircraft to the flight records, Hugo selects the Allocate/Deallocate
Aircraft action.
- Hugo wants to allocate an aircraft for the first two months of the schedule, so in the
Search Criteria table, Hugo specifies 6 January 2020 in the From
Date field and 6 March 2020 in the To Date field. Hugo clicks
Search.
- Hugo selects all the flight records, specifies an aircraft, and then clicks
Allocate. All the flights that the aircraft is allocated to are displayed on
the Flight Schedules tab of the flight log book record for the
aircraft.
