Disabling a node

If you need to add or replace a node or replace a component on a node, you can disable it for the time of service works so that the system does not report errors.

About this task

When a node is disabled:
  • It is no longer used to host Cloud Pak for Data System containers.
  • It is still monitored.
  • No alerts are sent for it.
  • No automatic recovery is performed.
Note: Before disabling the control node, which also serves as a Hub node, ensure that it does not interrupt any function.
Note:
  • Disabling a node when Cloud Pak for Data System is running produces a short outage lasting a few minutes.
  • It is not possible to disable nodes when the system application is starting, stopping, or recovering.

Procedure

Use the ap node disable enclosureX.nodeY command, where X is the enclosure number, and Y is the node number in that enclosure.

What to do next

When finished, you must manually enable the node as described in Enabling a node.
