VLAN secure networks

Create clusters on a secure VLAN network.

To use the VLAN secure network feature, you must use one of the following supported network switch systems:
  • IBM BNT RackSwitch G8000
  • IBM BNT RackSwitch G8052
  • Cisco Catalyst 2960G-24TC (with spanning-tree portfast trunk set for all ports connected to the compute nodes, and with errdisable reduced from 300 seconds to 30 seconds).

To create a cluster in a VLAN, partition the network for each account by creating VLANs and deploying clusters into these static VLANs. Clusters created in one VLAN for one account will not be able to access other clusters in a different VLAN for another account.

In preparation, a system administrator creates empty VLANs and enables VLAN access across switches. Then, when clusters are created, the nodes are automatically placed into VLANs.
