Disk sizing

Factors such as the number of custom extensions and the frequency of the staging contribute to how much disk space is required. The following table gives information about the minimum disk space required:

Database Sizing Guidelines
Staging The staging should be the same size as the used OLTP data size. For example, if the planned yearly OLTP size is 100 GB, and the used data size is 50 GB. Then, the staging disk size is 50 GB.
Note: The disk space for staging includes both the data and temporary space.
Data mart
  • The data mart size should be one fifth the size of OLTP data size initially.
Note: Every year the data mart size increases at the same rate as the OLTP data size. For example, if in the first year the OLTP data size is 100 GB, then the data mart size is 20 GB. The next year the data mart size is 40 GB (current disk space of 20 GB + 20 GB).

The yearly growth rate and existing disk space should be used to estimate future disk space requirements.
