Creating semantic models

Create a semantic model to provide the data for your Device Management Enablement solution application to use.

Procedure

  1. Log on as <solutionID> administrator.
  2. Click Solution Administration > Configuration Tools > Application Configuration.
  3. Select your solution application from the Select a solution application to configure list.
  4. Click the Models tab.
  5. Click Create.
  6. In the Create Model window, enter details of the new model. Optionally, select an existing model as a template for the new model.
Important: If you set the prefix of the model to http://SunshineWaterGroup#, for example, then the names of the OWL and RDF files are set to sunshinewatergroup. The file name is not case-sensitive.
    1. Enter the prefix for the model. The prefix is a unique identifier for the model in the format http://XXX#.
    2. Enter the ID for the model.
    3. Enter the model name.
    4. Optional: Click Using an existing model as template, and select a model from the displayed list to use as a template.
    5. Optional: Select Only duplicate ontology to copy only the relationships from the template model and avoid duplication of object instances.
  7. Click OK. The new model is added to the list of model options on the Models tab.
  8. Select the newly created model from the list.
    1. Optional: Describe the model in Description.
    2. Optional: Select Publish to Model Server Now.
    3. Optional: Select Check publish history.
  9. Click Save. The model is created.

What to do next

You can now synchronize the model with the solution database to ensure that there is no loss of metadata.
