About this task

Learn how to create defects in Maximo Mobile versions 9.0 and later.

Note:
  • You can also work with the desktop version of the Defects application and the Inspections application. From the side navigation menu, click Work Orders > Role Based Applications.
  • You can also create defects from existing inspections in the Inspections application in Maximo Mobile. These defects also appear in the Defects application.
From Maximo Civil Infrastructure version 9.1 and later, you can:
  • Capture GPS coordinates when you create or edit a defect. You can use the Defect map or Defect list icons and the map tools to view and manage defects on configured maps.
  • Add photos and attachments after you save a defect. You can send photos to Maximo Visual Inspection for analysis and set a default image.
  • Create a work order directly on the Defect details page in the Defect application. Also, you can create or select a related work order record to initiate repairs or follow-up work on the Related work orders page.

From Maximo Civil Infrastructure version 9.0 and later, the visual inspection model field is available to use in the Defects application in Maximo Mobile.

From Maximo Civil Infrastructure 8.6 and later, you can:

  • Manually add anomalies when IBM® Maximo Visual Inspection is not configured. When you add the anomalies, you draw first, and then you must assign a category to the anomaly.
  • Create defects offline, and the data is synchronized when your device is back online. You can use the filter to view defects that are created locally.
