Product architecture
IBM® Maximo Inventory Optimization is a fully-managed cloud inventory platform that is designed to store and analyze vast amounts of MIO inventory stock data. By collecting MIO inventory data from enterprise asset management (EAM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, IBM Maximo Inventory Optimization uses advanced industry-specific algorithms and analytics to intelligently optimize MIO inventories. The solution architecture is highly scalable for growth, and supports small, single environments to large global enterprises.
IBM Maximo Inventory Optimization seamlessly integrates with EAM and ERP systems, including:
- IBM Maximo EAM
- SAP
- Oracle
- ABB Ellipse
IBM Maximo Inventory Optimization provides certified integration connectors to routinely integrate and extract data into the solution and then performs extensive analysis. The solution can interoperate with one or many host data systems. IBM Maximo Inventory Optimization also provides data export features, which you can use to synchronize updates to external data source systems.
The following diagram outlines how the inventory optimization works:

IBM Maximo Inventory Optimization uses column-oriented databases, NoSQL data sources, and aggregation and summarization engines, allowing you to interactively filter, sort, and update millions of records in seconds.
