Do the following steps to configure the ITCAM Agent for
WebSphere DataPower Appliance on Linux or UNIX systems before you
can use it to monitor your WebSphere DataPower appliance:
Procedure
- Open the Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring
Services window.
- Right-click DataPower Monitoring Agent and
then click Configure. The Manage
Application Instances window is displayed.
- If you want to reconfigure an existing agent instance,
select the agent instance name and click OK.
If you want to create an agent instance, click Add Instance.
- Enter a unique instance name for the agent that you want
to create. The Agent Configuration window is displayed
and the instance name that you enter is displayed in the Instance
Name field.
Attention: Do not enter a long
instance name because the combination of the instance name and the
hostname on which the agent runs must not exceed 30 characters. The
instance name must also consist of only alphanumeric characters.
- Click Next.
- Enter the SNMP properties for receiving events:
- In the Port Number field, enter
the destination UDP port for SNMP Traps and Notifications that are
generated by the local SNMP agent or engine. By default, SNMP Traps
and Notifications are sent to port 162. This port must be unique across
all instances of this agent.
- From the Security Level list,
select the security level to use for notifications to this recipient.
- In the SNMP User Name field,
enter the user name for connecting to the SNMP agent.
- From the SNMP Authentication Protocol list,
select the SNMP authentication protocol that is used to connect to
the SNMP agent.
- If you selected Authentication, No Privacy or Authentication,
Privacy as the SNMP security level in step 6b, in the SNMP
Authentication Secret field, enter the authentication
pass phrase for connecting to the SNMP agent.
- If you entered the authentication pass phrase in the
previous step, re-enter the same authentication pass phrase in the Confirm
SNMP Authentication Secret field.
- If you selected Authentication, Privacy as
the SNMP security level in step 6b, in the SNMP Privacy
Secret field, enter the privacy pass phrase for connecting
to the SNMP agent.
- If you entered the privacy pass phrase in the previous
step, re-enter the same privacy pass phrase in the Confirm
SNMP Privacy Secret field.
- Click Next.
- Enter information about the WebSphere DataPower appliance
that you want to monitor:
- Click New.
- Enter the managed system name of the agent. This name
is displayed in the Navigation tree of the Tivoli Enterprise Portal.
It must be unique among all instances of the agent and it must consist
of only alphanumeric characters.
- In the Device host field, enter
the host name or IP address of the monitored DataPower appliance and
then confirm the password.
- In XML Management Interface Port field,
input the port number for the XML Management Interface. The default
number is 5550.
- Enter the User ID and Password for logging in to the
monitored DataPower appliance and then confirm the password.
- In the System Log field, type
the system log file name. The file name must be fully qualified.
The file name can also be a dynamic file name. For more information,

in the Agent Builder User's Guide.
- In the SSL Proxy Profile field,
Enter the absolute path of your custom SSL proxy profile, or click Browse and
select it.

- Click OK.
- Click Next. The Managed
System Details panel opens.
- Enter a name in the Managed System Name field. The name must consist of only alphanumeric characters.
- Click New.
- Enter the managed system name of the agent. This name
is displayed in the Navigation tree of the Tivoli Enterprise Portal.
It must be unique among all instances of the agent and it must consist
of only alphanumeric characters.
- Enter the device host name in the Device
Host field.
- Enter the community name that you configured when you
set up the XC10 Appliance to be monitored in the SNMP Community field
and then confirm the password.
Results
After you configure both the WebSphere DataPower appliance
and the agent, you can start the agent to monitor the WebSphere DataPower
appliance. If you are re-configuring an existing agent instance, you
must first stop and then start the agent instance for the changes
to take effect.
