COBOL proprietary scanner options
Users must specify a language level for the COBOL proprietary scanner. All compiler options found in the source file on the compiler directive statements will be ignored during the analysis. The following list shows the language level options as they appear in the "Scanning options" wizard. The options as presented on the ISPF interface are shown in parentheses.
COBOL reserved words vary slightly from version to version and that may cause analysis errors for your program assets. While the proprietary scanner does not offer a complete solution for each and every difference, it does support the variations to some extent by allowing the user to specify one of the following language levels:
- Support any COBOL level (ANYCBL)
- This option is the most restrictive to user-defined words.
- DOS/VS COBOL Release 3 (DOSCBL)
- Supports DOS/VS COBOL Release 3 level for reserved words.
- OS/VS COBOL Release 2 (OSCBL)
- Supports OS/VS COBOL Release 2 level for reserved words.
- VS COBOL II Release 3, 4 (VSCBL)
- Supports VS COBOL II Release 3, 4 level for reserved words.
- COBOL/370 Release 1 (CBL370)
- Supports COBOL/370 Release 1 level for reserved words.
- COBOL/390 (CBL390)
- Supports COBOL/390 level for reserved words.
- COBOL 2002 (CBL2002)
- Supports COBOL 2002 level for reserved words.
