Explore distributed assets

Using the browser interface of Rational® Asset Analyzer, you can explore the information about your distributed assets that the product scanned during inventory and put into the results database. Click Explore->Distributed assets to access the "Explore distributed assets" page.

From this page you can do the following tasks:

• Explore any of the source types shown by selecting the number beside the asset type. For each asset type, you get a list of the specific assets on a summary page. You can then drill down to get more information about a particular asset and even view the source from a details page.
• Change the scope of a database search by expanding the Search attributes list. Click Advanced search to see all of the fields.

As you explore any of these areas, you can come to understand both the structure of these assets and the work flow within them. The broadest scope for exploring is by distributed assets, because you can see all such assets that Rational Asset Analyzer knows about.

Exploring is also useful when you just want to find a particular asset, without analyzing the impact of changing it.
