Replacing the USB cable and connector in the 8335-GTG or 8335-GTH system

To replace a USB cable and connector, complete the steps in this procedure.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is plugged into a ground jack or connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
  2. Find the replacement USB cable and connector and remove it from the protective plastic envelope.
  3. While you press the latches (A) in, connect the USB cable and connector to the power switch as shown in Figure 1.

  4. Insert the USB cable and the power switch and cable into the system as shown in Figure 2. Be careful to route the cables through to the system backplane.

  5. Replace the top and side screws for the power switch as shown in Figure 3.

  6. Using the labels, plug the USB cable (A) and the power switch and cable (B) to the system backplane as shown in Figure 4.
    Ensure that the cable latch clip snaps into place on the connectors.

  7. Replace the rack installation support on the side of the system as shown in Figure 5.

  8. Secure each cable in the retaining clip on the inside wall of the system.
  9. Replace the disk drive and fan card.
