Viewing SAS fabric path information

Use the Hardware Service Manager to view details of the SAS fabric information.

Perform the following steps to view the SAS fabric information:

  1. Start the Hardware Service manager and page forward to the second selection screen.
  2. Select SAS Resource Path Information.
  3. Enter 1 in front of the required adapter resource to display resource path information. The screen displayed looks similar to the following example:

Selecting a device displays the details of all the nodes on each path between the controller and the device. The following example display shows the Display SAS fabric path graphical view.

An alternative view can be displayed by selecting F11 (SAS Fabric Path Data View). The following example display shows the SAS Fabric Path Data View.

The possible status values for the SAS Fabric Path Data View and the SAS Fabric Path Graphical View are defined in the following table:

Status Description
Operational No problem detected
Degraded The SAS node is degraded
Failed The SAS node is failed

Suspect1

 The SAS node is suspect of contributing to a failure

Missing1

 The SAS node is no longer detected by controller
Not valid The SAS node is incorrectly connected
Unknown Unknown or unexpected status
  • 1 This status is an indication of a possible problem; however, the controller is not always able to determine the status of a node. The node can have this status even when the status or node is not displayed.
