MEMDIMM

The failing component might be one of the memory DIMMs.

To determine the location of the memory DIMM, complete the following steps:

  1. Is a location code available in the serviceable event view for this failing item?
    • Yes: Continue with the next step.
    • No: Replace the memory DIMMs for each processor module (starting with processor module 1) in the system unit. On multiple-drawer servers, replace the memory DIMMs in the primary system node and then the secondary system nodes. This ends the procedure.
  2. Is the system managed by a management console?
    • Yes: Use the management console to replace the failing item at the location that was identified in this procedure.
    • No: Continue with the next step.
  3. Use the following table to determine the service action to perform.
Type and model Part number Description Location code Service action
5105-22E, 9008-22L, 9009-22A, 9009-22G, 9009-42A, 9009-42G, 9223-22H, 9223-22S, 9223-42H, or 9223-42S See System parts. Memory DIMM Un-P1-C15 through Un-P1-C46 Replace the memory DIMM at the location that was identified in this procedure. See Part locations and location codes.
9009-41A or 9009-41G See System parts. Memory DIMM Un-P1-C15 through Un-P1-C30 Replace the memory DIMM at the location that was identified in this procedure. See Part locations and location codes.
9040-MR9 See System parts. Memory DIMM Un-P1-Cx-C1 through Un-P1-Cx-C16 Replace the memory DIMM at the location that was identified in this procedure. See Part locations and location codes.
9080-M9S See System parts. Memory DIMM Un-P1-C22 through Un-P1-C53 Replace the memory DIMM at the location that was identified in this procedure. See Part locations and location codes.

If you need additional information for failing part numbers, location codes, or removal and replacement procedures, see Part locations and location codes. Select your machine type and model number to find additional location codes, part numbers, or replacement procedures for your system.
