Preparing the system for operation after removing and replacing an internal RDX docking station (FC EUA3) USB cable

Find information about preparing the system for operation after removing and replacing an internal RDX docking station (FC EUA3) USB cable that failed in the system or as part of another service procedure.

To complete this procedure, you must have replaced an internal RDX docking station (FC EUA3) USB cable in the system. For instructions, see Removing and replacing an internal RDX docking station (FC EUA3) USB cable in the system with the power turned off.

To prepare the system for operation, complete the following steps:

  1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
  2. Install the 8286-41A side cover. For instructions, see Installing the side cover on a stand-alone 8286-41A system with an internal RDX docking station.
  3. Install the service access cover. For instructions, see Installing the service access cover.
  4. Reconnect the power cords to the system. For instructions, see Connecting the power cords.
  5. Start the system or logical partition. For instructions, see Starting a system or logical partition.
  6. Verify the installed part.
    • If you replaced the part because of a service action, verify the installed part. For instructions, see Verifying a repair.
