Creating a virtual drive on a 7042-CR9

Learn how to create a virtual drive on a 7042-CR9.

To create a virtual drive on a 7042-CR9, complete the following steps:

  1. Power on or restart the system.
  2. When the system prompt is displayed, press the F1 key to access Setup Utility.
  3. In the System Configuration and Boot Management window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight System Settings and then press Enter.
  4. In the System Settings window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select Storage and then press Enter.
  5. In the Storage window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select AVAGO MegaRAID <ServeRAID M5210> Configuration Utility and then press Enter.
  6. In the Dashboard View window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select Main Menu and then press Enter.
  7. In the Main menu window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select Configuration Management and then press Enter.
  8. In the Configuration Management window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select Create Virtual Drive and then press Enter.
  9. In the Create Virtual Drive window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select Genereic RAID 1 and then press Enter.
  10. In the Generic R1 window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select Save Configuration and then press Enter.
  11. In the Warning window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to navigate to Confirm, then use the space bar to highlight Yes, and press Enter.

    The Success window is displayed with OK highlighted.

  12. Press Enter.
  13. Press Esc until the Main Menu window is displayed.
  14. In the Main Menu window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select Virtual Drive Management and then press Enter.
  15. In the Virtual Drive Management window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select Virtual Drive 0 and then press Enter.
  16. In the Virtual Drive 0 window, use the Up Arrow Key or Down Arrow Key to select View Associated Drives and then press Enter.
  17. If you have a 7042-CR9 system on which one drive is installed, ensure that the drive is displayed. If you have a 7042-CR9 system on which two drives are installed, ensure that both drives are displayed.
  18. Press Esc until the exit Setup Utility prompt is displayed.
  19. Press Y to save the changes and exit the Setup Utility. This step ends the procedure.
