Verifying that the logical partition can be suspended

Before planning to suspend a logical partition, verify that the logical partition can be suspended by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC).

Before you verify that the logical partition can be suspended, ensure that the logical partition does not have its rootvg volume group on a logical volume or have any exported optical devices.

To verify that the logical partition can be suspended, complete the following steps:

  1. In the navigation pane, open General and click Partition Properties.
  2. Select the logical partition in the work pane.
  3. From the Tasks menu, click Properties.
    • If the Allow this partition to be suspended check box is selected, the logical partition can be suspended.
    • If the Allow this partition to be suspended check box is not selected, the logical partition cannot be suspended.
  4. Click OK.
