On systems running server firmware level Ax710,
you can use the power/restart control menu in the Advanced System
Management Interface (ASMI) menus to perform a slow boot.
In some cases, you might need to perform a slow-mode boot
in order to perform extended diagnostic testing.
Note: A slow-mode
boot might yield a new reference code on the control panel, or new
errors in the service processor error log. When the server reports
a new error code, record it for use in subsequent steps.
To
use the ASMI menus to perform a slow boot, perform the following steps:
Record any reference codes being displayed.
Shut down the server.
On the ASMI Welcome pane, specify your user ID and password,
and click Log In.
Expand Power/Restart Control and
select Power On/Off System.
Record the settings so that you can re-enter
them after you complete the service actions.
On the Power on/off system menu, select the following:
Select Slow in the Set System Boot
Speed field.
Select Running in the Boot to system
server firmware field.
Select Save Settings.
Note: These
settings will apply to all future boots. After you complete the service
action, change the settings back to what you recorded in step 5.
After you are done, return to the step in the procedure
that caused you to perform a slow boot.
