Know the components for which the embedded firmware might
need to be placed up a level or down a level.
After certain components of the solution have been repaired, the
embedded firmware might need to be up a level or down a level to put
it at a level that is compatible with the approved solution software
stack release levels. If any of the following components are replaced
as part of a repair action, the embedded firmware might need to be
placed up a level or down a level.
- Server components on any of the management, administrator, or
data node servers:
- Flexible service processor (FSP)
- Fiber Channel adapter
- Ethernet adapter
- RAID adapter
- Hard disk drive (in central electronic complex (CEC) slots and
on external storage V7000 enclosures.)
- Components of an SSD drawer:
- SCSI-Enclosure-Services (SES) devices
- Solid-state drives (SSDs)
- The hard disk drive on the Hardware Management Console (HMC) or
the entire HMC is replaced
- BNT® switch
- Storage area network (SAN) switch
