Rebuilding a RAID 1 array

Use this information to rebuild a RAID 1 array on a Hardware Management Console (HMC) that has a failed disk drive or solid-state drive.

Before you begin, ensure that you replace the failed disk drive or solid-state drive. For instructions about replacing a drive, see the Problem determination and service guide for your HMC model.

To rebuild a RAID 1 array on the HMC, complete the following steps:

  1. Power on or restart the system.
  2. When the system prompt is displayed, press the F1 key to access the Setup Utility.
  3. In the System Settings window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight Storage and then press Enter.
  4. In the Storage window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight LSI MegaRAID Configuration Utility and then press Enter.
  5. In the Configuration Options window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight Drive Management and then press Enter.
  6. In the Drive Management window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight Select Drive Operations and then press Enter.
  7. In the Select Drive Operations window, press Enter. Use the up or down arrow keys to highlight the drive that is listed as Unconfigured Bad and then press Enter.
  8. In the Select Drive Operations window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight Make Unconfigured Good and then press Enter.
  9. In the Success window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight OK and then press Enter.
  10. In the Select Drive Operations window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight Assign Global Hot Spare Drive and then press Enter.
  11. In the Success window, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight OK and then press Enter. The rebuild operation starts.
  12. From the Setup menu, press the Esc key repeatedly to exit the Setup Utility.
  13. In the Exit Setup window, press the Y key to save the changes and to exit the Setup Utility.
  14. The HMC starts and the rebuild operation continues to run until it is complete. This step ends the procedure.
