Unable to authenticate a connection

You can add a fix to IBM® i that provides the capability to reset the dedicated service tools (DST) user ID if it has been disabled and you are unable to authenticate a connection. You need to reset the DST user ID to 11111111.

To enable this function, apply the appropriate fixes for your release as listed in the following table.

Table 1. Available fixes for the operating system to add the reset DST function
IBM i V5R4M5 IBM i 6.1
MF45244 MF45247
MF45246 MF45248

With the appropriate fix installed, you can perform function 65 nine times to reset user 11111111 to the default state and password. After you have reset the password, you can sign on and proceed with the recovery operation. Also, this function resets the connections service tools device ID.

Note: By performing function 65 nine times, you are adding function 65 twice to the existing resynchronization procedure.
