Install a Slimline media device for models 9116-561 and 570

You might want to install a new media device. Use the instructions in this section to accomplish this task.

If your system is managed by the Hardware Management Console (HMC), you can use the HMC to complete the steps for installing a Slimline media device. For instructions, see Install a feature using the Hardware Management Console.

If the operating system on your system or partition is AIX® or Linux®, install the media device with the power off, see Install a Slimline media device for models 9116-561 and 570 with the system powered off.
