The cryptographic adapter can not confirm that an optional method for
processing cryptographic operations is currently available. This can be for
2 different reasons:
The most current version of its licensed internal code is not installed
on the system. The licensed internal code for the adapter does not ship
with the system. For systems with Licensed Internal Code V5R4M5 or earlier,
it is contained within the licensed program 5733-CY1 Cryptographic Device
Manager. For systems with Licensed Internal Code V6R1M0 or V6R1M1 it is
contained within the licensed program 5733-CY2 Cryptographic Device
Manager, and for systems with Licensed Internal Code V7R1M0 or later it is
contained within the licensed program 5733-CY3 Cryptographic Device
Manager.
The Function Control Vector, which is required to be loaded by the customer before performing
any cryptographic operations, has not been loaded. Please refer to the "Loading a Function
Control Vector" in the cryptographic topic in the Security section of the IBM i information
center.
For both cases, the adapter is still available for use, but may not take advantage of performance
enhancements found in a newer version of Cryptographic Device Manager.
Note: This event is logged for every vary on of the cryptographic card if one of the conditions
above exist. It should be rare to see a V6R1 or later system without the upgraded version of the
Cryptographic Device Manager. Also, when the product is announced, the customer will be instructed to load the code.
