Feature spotlights

Versatile file transfer capabilities

IBM® Aspera® Connect Server provides reliable and predictable delivery times. It allows organizations to manually transfer large files and directories or schedule automated recurring transfers. It also allows users to allocate bandwidth based on transfer priority and offers high-availability cluster configuration options, including active/active or active/passive configurations. It provides simultaneous multi-location file delivery using multipoint transfers.

Fast, predictable transfer of virtually any size files

This software fully uses the available bandwidth for any network, from low capacity to multi-gigabit. Authorized users can upload and download data from a web-based directory using the browser plug-in. Additionally, it supports transfers from the desktop and point-to-point clients, command line, third-party embedded clients or mobile applications. It serves as the high-speed backbone for web application transfers of file-based data over public Internet or private IP links.

Web-enabled Browser Plug-in Client

Aspera Connect Server offers a lightweight browser client with automatic installation, upgrade and launching within most standard web browsers with transfers taking place independent of the browser, i.e., the browser can remain closed during transfers. It supports uploading, downloading and queuing of file, directory and multi-item transfers and allows users to override queue priorities and make near real-time rate control changes. It provides basic transfer bandwidth and progress reporting.

Powerful Administrator Options

Administrators can manage security settings, user access rights and transfer settings based on organizational requirements. They can set priorities and define aggregate or per-flow bandwidth allocation, and enable various transfer settings based on the time of day, per user or group and by client IP address or metadata. It allows administrators to monitor incoming and outgoing transfers and configure email notifications and delivery confirmations on the client and server.

Full Transfer Automation

IBM Aspera Connect Server uses hot folder services and defines custom pre- and post-delivery functionality using scriptable command line, web services or the software development kit library. It automatically forwards uploaded files to other Aspera nodes, even if files are initially transferred inbound without Aspera, such as through FTP deliveries. It provides more reliable deliveries, with automatic retry-and-resume for failed transfers.
