IBM Prerequisite Scanner helps enable remediation of prerequisite issues before starting product deployment by allowing the environment to be prepared for the installation ahead of time. It is a lightweight and easy-to-deploy tool which can be configured to scan an arbitrary size environment for prerequisites that are necessary for a successful installation. The Prerequisite Scanner can check for prerequisites for a single product, or it can be configured to run for all of the products in a solution. As part of configuring the tool to run, it is possible to author new checks that do not currently exist, and add them to the Prerequisite Scanner. This extensibility allows customers to account for uniquenesses in their environment.
IBM Prerequisite Scanner is best positioned as a tool to automate the manual method of checking for prerequisites across multi-product solutions. This is especially valuable in large scale deployments where potentially thousands of endpoints must be checked. Customers can perform this automated prerequisite checking independently and well in advance of starting the product or solution installation. This helps to avoid installation failures due to missing or incorrect prerequisites and significantly improves the overall deployment of Tivoli products and solutions.

Quality: Continuous improvement in quality via defect backlog reduction. View the current defects that are open and the state of those being worked in the current sprint. Also view the defects that have been fixed in the previous sprint, or submit a defect to be addressed by the Prerequisite Scanner team.
IBM Jazz for Service Management: Prerequisite Scanner is an integral part of Jazz for Service Management and is available as a beta download for early evaluation and feedback. As a best practice, this beta download should be used prior to attempting to install any of the Jazz for Service Management services to ensure all prerequisites have been satisfied. There are two downloads to choose from; one for Windows, and another for all Unix/Linux platforms. You'll need a developerWorks or IBM ID to download the files.
