Good news for all of you elastic caching fans out there, today IBM announced the WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance v2. In short, the new version is bigger, better, faster. The XC10 v2 is based on next generation hardware for increased performance and capacity. Elastic caching capacity has increased to 240GB of cache. It now includes support for both 1Gb and 10 Gb ethernet. Version 2 adds Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) support so the XC10 v2 can be monitored by standard network management systems. The new XC10 v2 also supports non-Java based client, such as .Net and PHP, through REST APIs. As mentioned in several blog posts, you can use the REST APIs to use the XC10 as a side cache for the DataPower XI50 Integration Appliance. The planned availability is June 15, 2011. Check back for a more detailed look under the hood of the new XC10 in mid-June.
