Cloud becomes a very hot topic this year, maybe since last year, and almost all the IT companies annoced to entry this market. In general, cloud can be classified into three categaries: SaaS, PaaS and LaaS. Salesforce.com and Amazon will absolutely be the leaders in this areas.
Cloud, especially SaaS is being accepted by more and more customers. Some companies already moved their business from the on-premise world to cloud, thus they can free from the routine IT maintance work, and can focus their core business.
We can forecast that this trend will continue and more companies will choose SaaS applications instead of setting up ERP within the enterprise. But we should also be aware that this progress will last for a long time since most people still have big concerns on the security problem of SaaS application.
That's to say, in the coming 5 years. One most possible thing will be that the companies will put their business data on both SaaS cloud and on-premise world at the same time. If this is true, then the integration between the cloud applications and on-premise applications will become vital important.
Hybrid cloud integration will be one of the hot topics in the coming years.
So, for enterprise application integration, we can divide it into three stages:
1) Integration the on-premise applications. In this stage, the companies usually set up the ERP within the enterprise.
2) Integration between the on-premise applications and cloud application. In this stage, the companies move part of their business to cloud, but still leave some in the on-premise world.
3) Integration cloud applications. In this stage, almost all the companies have move their whole business to cloud.
Let's see what will happen!
