This is a bit outside the scope of my blog, but interesting news: Carly Fiorina (no longer here), the chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard, has resigned. Fiorina has been facing pressure from HP's board and stockholders because the controversial merger with Compaq she spearheaded in 2002 has not produced the increased shareholder value that was promised. HP and IBM are often seen as each others biggest competitors.
