Following up on the previous link, IBMer Ed Brill points out a great article in the Boston Globe about the announcement concerning IBM's global center for social-software research.
Per the Globe:
The center will leverage the resources of IBM's Lotus software businessunit, which specializes in social networking software. For example,Lotus Quickr software enables teams of workers to quickly assembleinformation from a variety of sources, so they can share the data whilecollaborating on a project. Another product, Lotus Connections, can bedeployed to every worker in a company, enabling them to shareinformation, identify colleagues with expert knowledge, and quicklyform collaborative groups.
