the first installment I wanted to talk about the changes made to the
read mode of all HTML fields.
Here is a screen shot of the out of the box sample presentation template
(found in the Web Content library of a default install.... sample
content is a topic for another day). WCM tags are now highlighted and
all the markup (no matter how much) is shown in-line. The aim was to
make it easier to scan through an item and read through its markup
rather then jumping from text area to text area. This change is more
obvious in menu, navigator authoring tool etc components in read mode....
reference tags have been processed to make them hyperlinks that will
open the selected item in read mode, which shortcuts the need to go
through the "View references"
dialog. I find it much easier to navigate through the components being
used in my presentation markup through links versus going through the
dialogs. This give me a better sense of how my page is being put
Document cards will also appear for all
component references (and if the component is an image then a preview
thumbnail will be shown in the document card)
... and thats it for the read mode of HTML fields. Subtle changes, but hopefully very helpful ones.
Next topic will be on WCM tags.......
