IBM announced this morning its intent to acquire predictive analytics firm SPSS, Inc. for approximately $1.2B U.S.
Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Chicago, SPSS is a leading provider of predictive analytics software and solutions, with more than 250,000 customers in more than 100 countries around the world.
SPSS' software helps predict customer reactions across a wide range of fields. Its capabilities, combined with IBM's software and services portfolio, will help drive IBM's "smarter planet" strategy, particularly in the area of new intelligence.
With the addition of SPSS, IBM will add important capabilities to help clients gain insight, predict future events, and proactively act upon that insight to drive better business outcomes and transform their companies.
