Have you ever looked around your home, office, garage or e-mail for hazardous waste? We had a community clean up this weekend and it made me think of all the various types of hazardous waste in our lives. Work is full of waste. I've already commented on meetings and dare I next approach the waste in my e-mail in-basket? We all have it ...some are better at removal than others.. ...but like with all hazardous waste, we also hope there are opportunities to recycle. And speaking of that....I received an e-mail pointing me to 10 tips for sensible systems administration. Had I labeled it waste and dumped it in the trash faster than I do with spam, I would have missed a fantastic article that weaves an historic American character into the fabric of today's work.
The title does not do the article justice....granted is is a good tile...but would it make you buy the book? It is a must read...and maybe even worth being made into a short movie ......I won't give away the plot ....just imagine time travel and kites......nor the classic quotes such as "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" or "A countryman between two lawyers is like a fish between two cats.".
- Quickly....go read the 10 tips for sensible systems administration.....it won't be hazardous nor a waste. It has something for everyone...not matter your experience or role.
