Check out the enhanced Communities for IBM Support!
Want to find the most recent discussion threads related to your IBM product? Looking for a forum or user group? Tired of going to multiple websites? Then check out the enhancements we've made to the Communities page on the IBM Support Portal.
The Recent community activity module aggregates discussion threads and article posts from multiple channels into one easy-to-find location. This new module provides a single view of social media activity across blogs, Twitter, forums, and other channels for your selected products, giving you a quick view of the discussions that are happening and a connection to other experts using the same products and solving the same problems. In stead of going to multiple sites, with multiple IDs, visit the Communities page of the IBM Support Portal for a consolidated view of various conversations about your products. For each active product in your product list, you see a section that features dynamically updated content from Twitter, Forums, user groups, blogs or wikis. It also includes links to social media sources whose posts are not “aggregated” and displayed, such as Facebook or YouTube. Not all products will have all types of content. In this example, AIX 6.1 support provides dynamic feeds from Twitter, Forums and user groups, and blogs and wikis. In this example, feeds for the AIX 5.3 are limited to Forums, user groups, Blogs and wikis. Filtering social content Use the Filter results field at the top of the recent community activity module to limit the dynamic feeds to a specific topic. For example, entering "error" filters the results to only threads that include the word "error". This features helps you narrow into the content most relevant to your current task. Viewing Twitter content If you click the Twitter handle name, you see the tweets for that handle. If you click a hashtag, you see the results of the search for that hashtag in Twitter. This is normal tweet functionality. When you mouse over a tweet, you also get an option to share, retweet, reply or favorite the tweet. Viewing Blog/Wiki/Forums content Click a the link in the Blogs & wikis feeds opens an overlay window to provide a synopsis of the content. You can then select the "Visit site" link in the overlay window to open the source website in a new window. The posts for the various social media channels update periodically as the module retrieves new posts. You can also navigate through posts using the Previous/Next controls for each column. Hope you find this new feature useful. Please provide any feedback by adding comments to this blog. Author ![]() |
