My Experience at the E2 Innovate Conference

There aren’t many things in life that truly foster imagination but I believe that the E2 Innovate Conference did exactly that for me. From the first keynote to the last session I not only felt more educated but more invigorated by the whole experience. Whether it was the keynote session by Ben Fried, CIO of Google or the session on how to choose a SaaS application by Ted Shelton, I felt the topics were relevant to the problems we face as information systems officers.
I especially found Louis Richardson’s (Social Business Evangelist for IBM) session on the Creativity Crisis very interesting. His speech on how most companies are not encouraging their employees to take chances and make mistakes but instead are pushing them to be more productive was not only eye opening but very well thought out. To find out more about this session see Janelle’s blog post.
Besides the inspiration keynotes and educational sessions, we were given access to their expo floor which housed some of the most innovative companies out there. IBM had a particularly awesome booth where they high their internal collaboration solutions with IBM Connections, which really struck home with Janelle and I because that was what our TGMC prototype was on.
We got to speak to representatives from companies all over the valley; all this over cocktails and beer, which I think was the perfect breeding ground for innovation and networking. The whole experience was both overwhelming and enlightening. I would like to thank Daryl Pereira from IBM and Professor Gee from SJSU for giving us the opportunity to experience a real-world conference that allows us to mingle with some of the brightest minds in the Bay Area.
