IPv6 support are mandated by USG Federal requirement in 2010 (includes IPSec) So basically to qualify products, an effort to understand the requirements
to support IPv6/IPSec was initiated. eventually this effort resulted into detail USGv6 profile. This includes specific testing executed by external approved labs.
FAR - Federal Acquisition Regulation has made USGv6 certification mandatory for all IT related products/services.
So what does USGv6 include when one says - all IT related products/services?
Well it includes all appliances , devices, products and possible based services which include an IP (Internet Protocol) stack in it.
What does it require ?
It requirements are based on support for IP V6 and IPSEC ( yeah even IPSEC)
Whats the due Date ?
31st July 2010
What should I do , if I own an IP based appliance/device/product and plan to sell it to Federal?
No need to panic - the world is not ending - but time to pull up your socks.
